WindNOW! makes service safe!
Interview
WindNOW! implements industry standards in quality management. QHSE coordinator Manfred Berthel makes the company’s service safer. Let’s ask:
Manfred, since when have you been involved in wind and quality management?
Manfred: I have been excited about wind power for more than 25 years. I have been able to gain experience in several companies in the industry and to rise to a number of challenges. I have been with WindNOW! for a year now. Currently I am carrying out internal audits, getting us ready for a re-certification audit in October. New tasks in the operational area require new documentation, for example an update of risk assessments. In future, my focus will be on defining and monitoring various key figures which allow us to get a picture of the QM & HSE situation, for example of the connection between the number of near-accidents and annual working hours.
You’ve recently visited the service station in Sweden. What were your objectives there?
Manfred: It is essential to me to learn about the conditions on site and to discuss the daily work processes with the Swedish employees. We visited a GE 2.5 wind farm where WindNOW! operates under the full maintenance contract. We make sure that we develop a high quality standard for ourselves and create a safe working environment for all of us, especially for our technicians. We use various measures for that. Gaining practical knowledge on site is a significant part of my work.
What advantage do customers have with WindNOW! quality management?
Manfred: We palce the highest demands on ourselves and implement industry standards even though we are still a relatively small company. So we can make sure that we fulfil all customer requirements.
